How to Draw a Castle

Though this assigmanet studnets practiced 3-D LINE and SHAPE composition. The assignment is complete when it alsoi includes features such as portcullis, turrets, battlements and brick exteriors

Jeff Koons Balloon Dog

Inspired by Jeff Koons’ iconic Balloon Dog series, students created their own brightly colored balloon dog from a series of traced ovals. A few swipes of paint give the balloon dog the illusion of a round, shiny form.  Koons’ colorful Balloon Dog sculptures are so large that some are displayed outside, therefore, a cityscape is the perfect background for the collaged dog.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Through this assignment students learned about SPACE, and experimented with PERSPECTIVE by drawing their beanstalk large at the top of their paper and smaller toward the bottom.
They knew they were successful when Jack appeared to be high in the sky.  Students also learned about CONTRAST and were asked to add PATTERNS to their landscape that stood out.

Recycled Sea Life Collage

Students created their own recycled sea life pictures by using any kinds of recycling objects.Throgh this project students learn about SHAPE by cutting out ORGANIC SHAPES to make the fish and coral in their COLLAGE. Students experienced with SPACE by spreading elements across the collage background to create a BALANCED COMPOSITION.

Toucan painting

By drawing a Toucan, studnets parcticed LINE and SPACE composition.

Yoga Frog

Throgh this painting students had to learn about movement and draw a frog in a YOGA style position. Inspiration was sought through the children’s book: Yoga Frog by Nora Carpenter.
